And THIS is why indoor elephant exhibits are so important. I find people on this forum forget just how much of the year elephants spend indoors in northern climates.
While I agree that the indoor quarters for elephants are very important, they are remarkably more cold hardy that one would think. The elephants here are actually allowed out in temps above 35 degrees, the only reason they weren’t on this visit is because of the ongoing introduction of a new elephant to the exhibit.
