The rings of rocks around the planted areas and moat edges are visually unfortunate, but in just about every other way these exhibits blow away anything that's been done in the US, SDZSP and Dallas included.
I now need to get to France for more than just the food and wine--I am duly impressed by some of the images being uploaded by Antoine from this and the Doue zoos.
That is a very impressive elephant exhibit. I would not say that it "blows away" Dallas and it is certainly no better than Nashville, but it is still very impressive.
Of course perhaps my all time favorite zoo (as a cat fanatic) is in France - Le Parc Des Felins - which I have been to the last two years. Looks like there are some other excellent zoos in France as well. When the new Paris Zoo opens in a couple years, this country could be a top destination for Zoo Lovers.
Perhaps England & France (via Chunnel train) in three years time or so for the first INTERNATIONAL ZOOCHAT SYMPOSIUM???
That was the major reason for me to register on Zoochat : to show you that there are interesting zoos in France (and I am really happy to see pictures from foreign zoos so I have to do the same for you !).

This is not the best elephants exhibit but it is very impressive. In France I'd prefer the asian elephants exhibit of Le Pal (an amusement and animals park in the middle east of France) because the animals have much to do.
