African Forest - Gorilla Indoor Exhibits

This may not look great in the picture, but the gorillas are so lively in them that it pretty much cancels it out.

Just because an animal is lively doesn't make an exhibit great. I've seen incredible active tayras in terrible cages.

I'm sorry, but can you really tell if the gorillas are happy? Seems like you are trying make an excuse for a possibly poor (I have yet to see a decent indoor great ape exhibit) exhibit.

Okay sorry you don't like it but I do. I would probably think that the gorillas would be happy because they run and hop around a lot, and even sometimes interact with the guests in a good way.

I don't recall if this exhibit has access to the large outdoor exhibit, which is very 'cage-y' but roomy.

All of the gorillas have access to the outdoor enclosure at some point or another. The groups rotate through the indoor and outdoor enclosures, as is normal in zoos with more than one group of gorillas.

Hi KCZooFan, unlike many animals in a zoo, l definitely think through a relatively short observation time you can see if a gorilla is "happy" as l am also confidant that through observation you can determine if a gorilla is stressed or "un happy".
