The central pavilion or 'Rotunda building' was originally constructed in 1878 and originally housed an aviary block. After the most recent renovation it now houses African penguins, waders and European birds (avocet, redshank, ruff, hoopoe, European turtle dove) and the flamingo indoor exhibit.
