African Savanna Exhibit

The African Savanna isn't very large, but it appears to be aesthetically pleasing based on this photo.

@snowleopard 1. The exhibit is larger than what is seen in this picture. The visitor structure in the middle is actually surrounded on three sides by the exhibit, and there's some more space for the animals on the opposite side of the structure. I measured the exhibit on google maps just now, and it comes out just shy of two acres.
2. While it's easy to think of massive exhibits with dozens of animals when the term "African Savanna" is used, this savanna has a more reasonable number of animals for its size. The highlight is of course the zoo's bachelor herd of six Masai giraffes, but then there's also ostrich, bontebok, ground hornbills, and bongo- and none of these species are kept in large numbers. Yeah, I'd be critical of this exhibit if it had as many individuals as, say, all of Bronx's African Plains, or Columbus' Heart of Africa, but it doesn't- and is a reasonable size for what is exhibited.

Thanks for the reply @Neil chace and it's great to hear that the savanna is much larger than it first appears. The species lineup is also quite impressive.
