African white-backed vulture, June 2013

This in the cheerful flying display. This show was entitled "Wings of Serengeti" (or something similar), and featured guineafowl (!), a ground hornbill two vultures, and a red kite. As always at this zoo, the talk was good - eve if the array of species might have been more exciting.

I wonder how long it will be before the Red Kite has wild congeners nearby? Seeing the White-backed Vulture prompts me to recall that there is a very old record of an Egyptian Vulture from 1868, shot in nearby Peldon. Not a vagrant that I'd expect to recur!
