Ah Meng statue, December 2015

I could have been standing under a waterfall when I took this photo. It's not called a rain forest zoo for nothing.

Is 'Ah Meng' still alive? She was their famous resident Orang and used to be touted as a tourist attraction. They did 'shows' with her and visitors could 'have breakfast with an orangutan'( they probably had to pay extra for that).

She died in 2008. There's a corner devoted to photos of her with various celebs etc. - part of the restaurant named after her. There's already a photo of it in this Gallery which is why I haven't uploaded mine.

Ah Meng was buried just to the left of the photo. A durian tree, her favourite fruit, serves as a marker for her burial spot.

Nice that she has a statue. I always love it when zoos commemorate their famous animals.
