Albus, the albino black bear, died recently and so the zoo can no longer promote itself as having a one-of-a-kind animal.

@snowleopard Any idea on how Albus came to reside at the zoo? Was he born in captivity?

@kermodei Albus was an orphaned bear who was trapped in the wild, near Bella Coola in British Columbia. He came to the zoo in December 1991.

@snowleopard Interesting! You'd think such a rare find would result in more hits online... but I'm having trouble finding any more on him. Might try contacting the zoo itself but they can be spotty with information on individual animals, at least in my experience.
