Alligator Swamp + Wading Bird Rookery

July 26th, 2012.
Is this an exhibit area made to look natural or is it a real swamp with wild alligators that can come and go?

It is all enclosed with literally hundreds of alligators, and it happens to be home to about a dozen species of wading bird. I posted a photo of the species list of birds, and those winged creatures deliberately nest in trees near gators as the crocodilians scare tree-climbing predators away (like raccoons). There are opportunities to feed the gators with miniscule pellets, and the beasts congregate in large numbers whenever anyone tosses food into the murky depths.
