American alligator and slider turtle exhibit, 2019-10-04

There were two American alligators of a pretty good size. The sliders were, as far as I could see, from all three subspecies of Trachemys scripta, and there were many dozens of them - at least 60 to 70, possibly 100 even.
Probably mostly hybrids between the subspecies, as scripta and troostii have often been crossed in the pet-trade. These should mostly be rescues.

@Jarne I always have trouble telling apart scripta and troostii so it would make sense if a lot of captive specimens would be rescues.

Pairi Daiza does cooperate with the organization Carapace, which is a reptile rescue and sanctuary organization.

All active and deliberate propagation of all pond slider turtle subspecies is now banned under the European Union invasive alien species regulation.
