After almost 20 years, the Night Safari's first amphitheatre, which opened in December 2003, will hold its last Creatures of the Night Show at the end of this month. It is making way for the new Rainforest Wild (Africa) park.
A new amphitheatre has been built next to the Night Safari's entrance that will soon open. But it will be a very different experience from the current one as it is fully covered by a roof and will not be surrounded by lush forest.
@Zooish That's a shame! I always liked the unique environment this amphitheater gave (Well, or at least I gathered that from photos, I wish I could experience it in first person ).
Why was the covered amphitheater built? Will the show change? This feels like a downgrade in my opinion!
@SivatheriumGuy it is a practical decision to build a covered amphitheatre given that it rains very often in Singapore and shows are cancelled in bad weather. Another possibility is that the new amphitheatre could also be used in the day time for the adjacent Rainforest Wild park when it opens in 2024.
The Night Safari show will probably be tweaked to suit the new venue but i don't have details of the changes.
I really liked the show here and I've never seen anything like it in any other zoo. The clever use of lighting and barriers created a great sense of immersion.
