This seems like a fun experience! Was this behind-the scenes? My local zoo is getting ready to house these gorgeous creatures, so I'm kind of in a Amur Leopard phase.
No it was actually open to regular Zoo visitors which was pretty cool. The Pittsburgh Zoo is home to 2 Amur Leopards. Male Dima who is 7 yrs old. He came from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Female Katerina who will be turning 17 in October was brought to the Pittsburgh zoo from Minnesota Zoo when she was 1 yr old.
I think the zoo is doing it also for the Leopards species. A couple people in the small crowd viewing this display was amazed that there was only 35 left in the wild. So its a good thing that my zoo and hopefully others do thing such as this to help conservation and so on with highly endangered animals.
