I always prefer cat enclosures to be covered over.I realize my preference is quite irritating for some zoochatters , but a mesh covering is a great comfort to many - not least for zoo staff & management. There are four Houdini animals in a zoo with a special capacity for making a mockery of their confinement, namely - snakes, orang utan, chimpanzee & leopard. No precautions are excessive , and I do not mind insisting on this.Ocasionally one sees new enclosures designed perhaps by committees or architects, and quite forgetting common-sense animal husbandry precautions.I would prefer to have some mesh making photography tricky from time to time than to have a loose animal. With regard to photography, if you have the right lens, you can often focus "through" the mesh & it becomes invisible.
