It is terrific to see that Great Bear Wilderness contains underwater viewing windows and natural substrate for the bears, but overall I get a sense of disappointment from this hugely expensive complex. The American Bison and Bald Eagle exhibits are impressive, but the Grizzly and Polar Bear exhibits appear to be merely modern-day grottoes.
I do not think these exhibits are grottoes but the zoo did over use mock rock which probaly drove the price up (demolishing the old ibex island drove the price up also). This angle makes the exhibit look like a grotto the most because it is taken from across the moat. If the picture was taken from one of the many windows it seems very different. I think it is an exhibit you have to see in person because of all viewing angles the exhibits have. Back to the mock rock, it will be intresting to see how much will be included in the planed exhibit.
Wilson or TropicWorld54, would you mind taking photos of the exhibit from different angles? From photos it does look like modern day grottoes and I don't have too much memories of it as I had to rush through the exhibit at the end of the day. Thanks!
