The Pittsburgh Zoo bear grottoes are amongst the very worst of their kind in North America, and it is absolutely tragic to see enormous, intelligent mammals kept in such shocking conditions. There are many multi-acre bear exhibits across the continent, and yet zoos like Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Cincinnati and many others choose not to find new homes for their bears and simply demolish their archaic concrete monstrosities and instead leave the animals in their pits until they die. What a bleak future.
