It hadn't crossed my mind age might be a mix - I just took it for granted that she was pure-bred. To be honest I'm not familiar with a reliable way to distinguish whether an Asiatic lioness might be a mix - obviously coat length and size become less reliable. Out of interest, what should I look for?
I have more photos of both lionesses so would be happy to upload them when I'm back in the UK - or perhaps to show you after a visit to Artis next week?
As far as I can tell from weak internet sources, Zoorasia were the first holders in Japan and the Asian lions in other Japanese zoos were bred at Zoorasia.
