Anoa London Zoo

I know these things take a bit of doing, but IF a new entrance to the Casson Pavilion (can ZSL come up with a better name - Raffles Pavilion, with the bust relocated from the offices would be nice) was built on the Events Lawn side that made it possible to enter and leave the building on one side, there COULD be a decent sized paddock for the Anoa.

The building needs a few more exhibits internally, as well. Maybe a couple of enclosures centred round that timber spine for lorises (London has done well with Pigmy Slow Loris, as well as the current Grey Slender Loris) could be fitted?

This is the 'bay' last used for the pygmy hippo winter enclosure. The pool has been filled in but the wall mounted plants remain. The outside paddock is part of the Tiger Territory alongside the tapir paddock. At the moment only one entrance is in use for the public, the one nearest to Animal Adventure.

I agree and have said before that a huge amount could be done to improve the interior without an enormous amount of effort or expense to make it more coherent. At the moment it just feels a bit of a mess and a forgotten part of the zoo, which on the whole is looking great at the moment.

In case anyone wants to know, the lineup at the Casson last week was bearded pigs in a nice group, anoa, 1 malay tapir ( the male i suppose, since female and juvenile tapirs were near the okapis), a very hyperactive hairy armadillo, polecats (asleep), kinkajou (asleep), a family of meerkats ( 3 families of meerkats at london zoo in different exhibits, too many i think), prarie dogs, and a burrowing owl.

....and a ruffed lemur I think. The sign says they're looking for a companion for it. Shouldn't be too difficult, one would have thought, if it is true that they are indeed searching....

Still largely given over to events animals, in other words. I know people enjoy these demonstrations, but if London ever is going to significantly develop the main garden some hard choices will need to be made.

Anoa than on the Casson as an affirmative. With Sumatran tiger and Malayan tapir. I wish they elaborate the theme in this direction further to make a full Indonesian precinct.
