Is there a glassed viewing area or will it be completely through mesh?
Nonetheless, looks very professional a sure sign this recently opened wildlife park is fast maturing as one the UK's leading collections.
I think it looks horrible. (I realise it is still under construction). I can't gauge the size either - how big is it?
Is the anteater enclosure to be the rectangular section on the left? (And presumably the right side with the pond for capybara or tapir or something?).
Giant anteaters (when they are awake!) are renowned pacers in captivity due to their wandering lifestyle, and a long enclosure like this is surely just going to make pacing even more pronounced. It would be a good idea when finished if they give it some good landscaping with lots of shrubs and pampas grass and things like that to break up the area to try and avoid the pacing problem.
I should have looked at the other photos too! The enclosure on the right with the pond is much larger than it appears from this angle, and seeing the other photos are also labelled "anteater enclosure" I take it this is also for the anteaters? What is the purpose of the rectangular run in the above photo?
If the pond enclosure is (also) for the anteaters then it seems perfectly adequate and I retract my previous post
The coatis are supposed to be moving to this area as well; it wouldn't surprise me if they were mixed with anteaters in the 'pond' exhibit. Would fit with YWP's style.
