Anteater exhibit at Chester Zoo, 14/04/14

Home to Giant Anteater and Southern Pudu.
Where in the zoo is this? I hate this kind of exhibit, the well-they're-both-South-American-species-so-stick-'em-in-together approach.

It's opposite the cassowaries, behind the original entrance to the zoo (which is now for staff and function guests only).
I think adding the pudu was a good idea: he's an old buck who can't be kept with the breeders (between the jaguars and the coffee shop). He has a nice big space in a quiet corner of the zoo and he gives a bit of interest to the enclosure when the anteaters are in the house (as they generally are).

As Gentle Lemur notes, this decision is purely based on the fact the pudu in question is very elderly and cannot be kept with the main breeding group elsewhere in the zoo - rather than keep him offshow until the end of his life, put him through the stress of a collection transfer or euthanise him, the decision was taken to move him to an enclosure which was large and quiet enough for him to be able to share successfully with the existing occupants.

I think it's important then to note why they are sharing an enclosure and that they don't share the same distribution or habitat in the wild in that case.

Although this particular species (Pudu puda) is not found within the range of the giant anteater, the closely related Pudu mephistophiles *is* found within the range and habitat of said species.
