Any suggestions as to what was in here? July 1965

Bird of prey of some kind, an eagle maybe? I think it's the aviary on the corner, just down the hill from the old camel house.

I remember on at least one visit to Edinburgh, seeing a Golden Eagle displayed in a single tall Aviary. There was ivy covering some of the top I think. Would that be here perhaps?

I think so, more recently it has housed great grey owls. In the photo at the back top you can just see a high level recessed area which is designed to be used for nesting I think. I hadn't realised this aviary was that old -though I think it has been re-netted but other than that remains more or less the same to this day.

The aviary is now gone unfortunately
