One of the supposedly good things about the inside quarters for great apes at Kolmården, is that "the rockwork" actually isn´t "rockwork" but pieces of genuine rock. The house is supposed to have been built around the top of natural cliffs.
I am guessing that it was built in the end the 1970s, but I could be wrong. Though I have no memories of this house from my only visit to the zoo, as a teenager in the late 1960s.
However, and although I have not visited the two best zoos in Sweden - Kolmården and Borås - for decades (but followed them via media), I think it is pretty safe to say that their weakest spot is their great ape exhibits.
