While being a perfectly adequate exhibit for gorillas, at the same time the zoo world has moved on from these type of grottoes and the zoo would do well to raise funds in the future for a modern great ape habitat.
There is a waterfall on the backside of this exhibit’s rocky wall that pours into the adjacent Duck Pond; I wonder if a retrofit to add a waterfall feature into the exhibit would be an asset?
