Oh yes indeed. The bonobo island is about 30% bigger than all the orangutan islands combined. And the gorilla island is 3 times as big as the bonobo island
yes, but the climbing equipment and area on the orangutan islands is enormous. Bonobos (and Gorillas) are far more terrestrial so it makes sense to give them far greater ground space than the Orangutans which shouldn't be using the ground extensively. Its one of the few places I have seen where the big differences in the various Ape species' habits is truly reflected in the design of the exhibits.
I believe this Bonobo island was originally part of the 2nd Gorilla island when they had two Gorilla groups(the 2nd one was sent to Australia). Then it was converted for the Bonobo group and a modern house built too.
