The main part of the exhibit for raccoons in the Aquapark of the AQUA Freshwater Aquarium in Silkeborg, Denmark. This is an absolutely gorgeous exhibit which is even bigger than you can see in this shot. It is spacious and lush with a shallow stream running throug and it allows the raccoons to climb, dig, seek shade and have some privacy.

The raccoon is not a native species but AQUA also has a major theme about invasive species and their impact on the enrivonment.

AQUA appears to be a brilliant institution - I had never heard about it until I saw these pictures. The educational aspect of it reminds me a bit of the "Water´s way"-exhibition at Universeum in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Many nice exhibits, but judging from the photos I think I like this one the best!

Beautiful exhibit! Is the raccoon an invasive specie in Denmark?

Yes, as mentioned above AQUA only features native wildlife from the Danish freshwater habitats but also has an extensive theme about invasive species and their negative impact and the freshwater habitats.

Raccoons are a North American species but have already established wild populations in many European countries, the founders having escaped from captivity and fur farms. Denmark has been free from an established population for many years but now they are coming up from Germany and it looks like they are settling in together with the raccoon dog.
