What is your overall assessment of Moody Gardens as a zoological experience? Is it a "must see" for zoo nerds? The penguin and giant otter exhibits look really good from photos.
Update: oops. I see in other photo threads that you do cite this as an example of penguin exhibit excellence and that you reviewed Moody Garden as a "must see".
Yes. This is a "model of excellence" for penguin exhibits. 5 species, above water viewing, and two levels of underwater viewing.
As for Moody Gardens as a whole, I can only comment for the Aquarium part, but I have it on good authority that the Rain Forest is just as good. Definitely well worth a visit to Galveston, even for the non-zoo nerd.
