Arctic redpoll, Acanthis hornemanni exilipes

Nieuwe haven, Arnhem 2018. An adult male arctic redpoll (vagrant to the Netherlands) in a group of common redpolls, that had been hanging around there for quite a while now. A very beautiful bird!

In this picture it's feeding on some seeds that were probably thrown either just before we arrived (though I doubt it, as the few other twitchers were only just arriving then as well) or one of the days prior. Not the most natural of environments or most interesting-looking fore-/backgrounds, but I find the picture interesting nonetheless because it shows the difference between the two species very well!
