Although it was dark, I was extremely excited to see these. I only took one photo with flash.
Any thoughts? Are they short-tailed parrots?
Photo taken on the 15th November 2013.
Almost 100 % sure these are short-tailed Parrots ! Took care of serveral at Walsrode Birdpark long ago and at that time less then 20 birds were kept in Europe !
Don't know if any are kept at the moment in privat aviculture.
I guess they came as saized birds from illegal trade?
Many illegal animal exports from Brazil to Europe seem to go through Portugal. Even those 3 Lear´s macaws saised in Czech rep were illegaly brough from SA to Portugal as eggs, where they hatched and were hand-reared for a few months before beeing sent to end customers.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see these! I missed them at Loro Parque last year and didn't expect to see so many in a single aviary in Europe - especially without any mention of them online (not on zootierliste, at least). The last time I saw such numbers was in Rio de Janeiro in 2010.
