65) Asian Elephant Elephas maximus (0.1) This elephant has been rescued from a circus ; she isn't of Sri Lankan breed but she remains an iconic animal from this South Asian island. Other circus elephants should be taken in care by the Zoo in the next years, as their display in circuses is being prohibited.
@amur leopard yes it was my first idea to draw the map of an Australian / Oceanian zoo, but it seemed difficult to make a large park.
And if I was an hairsplitter I would add that many of the Australian species displayed live in Tasmania and / or in the minor islands around Australia...
To clarify the situation entirely, I add that "Arctic" and "Antarctic" zones refer to the numerous islands around both poles (Iceland, Greenland, Aleutian Islands, Kerguelen, Marion, Crozet, South Georgia...).
@birdsandbats The definition of an island is something that 1. Is entirely surrounded by water and 2. Smaller than a continent, so they are certainly mutually exclusive.
