@jayjds2 Does Sylvan Heights not have them anymore? Their USDA report from this year lists a handful and they were signed on my visit 3 years ago (not sure I saw them though). I agree with the sentiment though, it's a very picturesque bird.
@Coelacanth18 If Sylvan Heights still has them, they must be exclusively in their (off-show) breeding center and not on public display. I never saw them on display or even signed on any of my visits since 2023 (and I was literally just there last weekend). They did have the congeneric Ruddy-headed Goose back in 2023, but I haven't seen that since either.
@Coelacanth18 they aren’t listed on ZIMS for Sylvan, though Sylvan’s ZIMS has always seemed rather dodgy. But in several visits from 2016-2021 including a BTS tour I never saw or heard mentioned this species. That said, I also wouldn’t be entirely surprised if they do have some - I just don’t know that they do.
So I just found this out, but Joel Sartore posted a picture of an Ashy-headed Goose from Sylvan Heights back in September (posted on Instagram). I have no idea if this actually indicates at all that they still have them behind-the-scenes, but make of that what you will.
