I have 2 photos of the large Malayan tapir exhibit in the ZooChat gallery, and it appears as if the tapirs can swim directly up to the siamang island island. However, a wire can be seen towards the bottoom right hand corner of this photo, and the walls of the siamang embankment appear to be steep, therefore I don't believe that the two species can interact with each other. Either way, this is another quite nice exhibit in the Asian section of the park, which is arguably the most impressive area of the El Paso Zoo.
