I'm still not totally convinced with this indoor "factory style" bedroom for the sun bears, especially because the outdoor exhibit is so impressive, but I've warmed up to it a little. I'd rather see something else, but on my visit in the summer of 2008 the bears were highly active in their fairly new environment.

I agree, I don't like the message that this exhibit, and others like it (PECO Primate Reserve being a prime example), send out. However, it does look like a really good indoor exhibit for the bears. I'm left wondering why the designers could not have just made it a functional indoor enclosure demonstrating the sun bear's behaviour, complementing the outdoor enclosure which shows its habitat.
Great! - At last some imagination being used in bear enclosures , and significantly , in interior areas. It would be easy to make several criticisms of this design, but I am so happy that somebody at least made a big effort that I will leave these for some other time.
Uhm it kind of does, yes. It's kind of hard to explain really unless you've actually seen it. I'm going Monday so I'll get a picture looking down in it
