This must be the famous Anna I asume? I wonder how she is getting along on her own, have they any other elephants yet? does she have any other animal company do you know?
I can't help wondering if she is actaually any better off here than with the Roberts family, she has gone from a small barn to a field wih no company as far as I can see, not even a pony or some other creature.
I can't see why she didn't go to another zoo with elephants?
I think Longleat was the easiest option as they actually offered to take her and, having no other elephants, did not face any potential integration problems. Introducing an old female like her to an established group somewhere else might have proved difficult, on both sides. But I think Longleat should have arranged to provide her with at least one companion as quickly as possible if they were going to take her. IMO the most important ingredient in a happy life for an elephant- is other elephants. Its fine for them to have 'plans' to bring in more elephants in the future but she's already been there a while and is still solitary.
