I've only been here once, and that was just a brief visit a while ago. This set of photos doesn't inspire me to return - in a country of great zoos, this looks ferociously dull and hideously ugly, despite having quite an interesting collection. Would that be a fair conclusion?
That's not too unfair - the pylons, I'm afraid, completely knacker any attempt at a beautiful site. If they were taken away, some of it would be quite nice, a lot (design-wise) rather dull. The elephant and macaque houses would still be pretty ugly! But the species line-up is pretty interesting.
I enjoyed it, but it would probably take a very major change for me to go back before some years have passed.
We called in here fairly briefly on the way to Beekse Bergen - a manoeuvre one of our party had quite comfortably done before - we found Beekse Bergen had filled out and we had to rush part of it to get round in time (though this was also partly due to our desire to get the last boat safari rather than walking back). Next time it will just be a full day at Beekse Bergen - really enjoyed that place.
