Asian elephants

Seems a bit unfair to stand on a log when you are bigger alreadY1
I thought it`s Tunga vs. Raman, neither of them looks like an (near) adult bull..

I was going to say that myself.

Just look at the lack of tusk on the smaller elephant! Therefore suggesting that this is in fact Raman.

By the way anyone else notice what an impressive set of tusks Tunga has with him only being 4?

I guess the long tusks seem to skip a generation in that bloodline because Tunga's grandfather, Chieng-Mei, had a very impressive set of tusks but his dad Chang only had tushes.

I believe its been discussed before on here, but I'm interested how different Asian bulls, even related ones, may or may not have tusks. Is it inherited genetically, or is it random? If genetic, how does the inheritance work?

Quite right, my mistake :o
I was fooled by seeing Tunga and Upali on Saturday. They both have fairly hairy backs, but Upali is much more muscular and he also has a splendid tuft of hairs on his tail.
