A few years ago, when the Zoological Society of San Diego became San Diego Zoo Global and got a new marketing make-over, the entire zoo and its exhibits were re-branded. Individual exhibits lost their names and the zoo was divided into the regions that everyone now refers to today. The names reflect what exhibits in majority are held in that region (i.e. Asian Passage) or what the zoo hopes to redevelop that area into (i.e. Africa Rocks). Its akin to naming your kids before they are even conceived.
