It looks like this exhibit is a lot more barren than from when it started. Is it because of the two litters of otters or because of seasonal growth? I would think Seattle has a growing season 80% of the year.

I sat and watched the otters with my family for at least a good 10 minutes or more and the crowds were thick around this exhibit. With 10 otters rampaging through the enclosure we saw directly before our eyes otters rip undergrowth out of the ground and drag it to a couple of nesting sites. The animals never seemed to stop moving and the ground was churned up in numerous areas. I kept remarking to my wife on how lush and green the zoo was but in this otter exhibit anything growing will soon be pulled from the ground by one of the 10 occupants.
