@Zoofan15 It was built back in the 90's and actually has a pool in the top right, where the path loops around too and gives the public a small underwater viewing area; which I've always thought was a well designed addition.
@Jambo It's in great condition for its age. It never ceases to amaze me how some exhibits look dated within a decade; while others are almost timeless.
@Zoofan15 Melbourne's Rainforest; featuring the gorilla, pygmy hippo, cassowary, otter and tiger exhibits have all stood the test of time (despite all being 30 years old). All are intricately designed, and all are potential candidates for the best exhibit in the region for each of the respective species!
@Jambo I’d agree with that. It was certainly an era that saw Melbourne Zoo cement itself (alongside Taronga Zoo) as the two premier zoos in the region.
