This enclosure is in need of a major face lift...it is looking boring and dated
If the moat was filled in it would double the space available for the Lions- a high wall of glass could replace it as the barrier on the replicate the Gir Forest landscape.
Personally i think this is rather good for the Asiatic Lions and maybe if the moat was filled in and glass was made a barrier it could be a top class enclosure.
I agree with Marwell Darlek moving the lions to the Mappin terraces would be brilliant and an amazing enclosure could be made for them.Which would leave this as a tiger enclosure which if moat taken away and with glass could be a very good enclosure leaving the Tiger enclosure at the moment which could be used for non-breeeding individuals.

Which ever species lives in it, I'd like to see the moat filled in and a glass barrier surrounding it and landscaping. I agree the two current enclosures should be joined up/connected just for one species of Big Cat- either Lion or Tiger..
For the Tigers, yes. Though I think only a portion of it should stay as a pool as the whole area of water wouldn't be used by them so it is better utilised as land space.
I think this area which is nowadays very shady with the big trees and bushes, would lend itself better to a darker more tropical feel for Tigers. The 'arid' Mappins area is more open and might be better suited to the Lions.
