This Stuttgart zoological garden has divided a number of zoo enthusiasts who I'm friends with. Some folks love the botanical collection, animal collection and historic items in the zoo, while other people think that the zoo has a large number of outdated sections. It seems to me that Wilhelma is a mixture of everything!
Agreed, it is a real mix. Not unusual amongst the larger German zoos I have been too so far. Some of the exhibits were brilliant (Amazonienhaus and the Mountain animal section in particular). Some need some updating. I did enjoy the zoo though, and the plant collection was excellent too.
@snowleopard i hope that i can visit the wilhelma zoo in the easter hollydays. My last visit was 2 years ago. I can recomend the wilhelma zoo to you if you are in europe again. They have a large collection with many rare birds, 3 crocodile and caiman species and a good big cat collection.
