It’s a bit below average I would say, I personally didn’t like it. It is quite pricey (12€ for a student ticket) for such a small place. The tanks were ok, except the fact that all plants were fake in them. I was also not a big fan of the lobster traps, pipes and traffic cones used as decoration in many of the tanks. With one or two tanks it’s fine but not with the majority…Signs are also not the most informative, other than the species name, diet, conservation status and distribution you don’t get much.
As a zoonerd it was disappointing not to see the blue skates, for which I was quite looking forward to, however seeing conger eels bigger than two metres was a nice surprise
Alltogether, if you’re in Galway it’s worth a visit, but otherwise I wouldn’t travel hours just because of this place.
