Atlas Moth - Butterfly Journey - 05/03/2011

One of a number of spectacular atlas moths (Attacus atlas) emerging from their pupae in the Butterfly Journey.

I thought a macro might give a different perspective on these beautiful moths.

Puts my picture of it to shame! How on earth did you give it a black background?

The background should be dark brown on a calibrated monitor, and that's pretty much how it looked straight out of the camera although I did push up the contrast a little and increase the black level, which effectively makes the shadow areas appear slightly darker.
