Aug. 2025 - Fallow Deer

While the zoo erroneously labels this deer as a “fallow”, she is in fact, an Axis Deer.

@Austin the Sengi I agree, this looks much more like an Axis Deer. I think of the large white throat patch as a big indicator.

@Austin the Sengi they have fixed it on their website, but they must not have updated the exhibit sign.

@Austin the Sengi I thought it might have been! I know the zoo lists her as an Axis deer in several media spots, and a very drunk man ahead of me did identify it as an Axis deer, but I played it safe and labeled her with what I saw the facility did. Unfortunately I don't know my deer half as well as I should, it seems!
