Australasia- White-Cheeked Gibbon Exhibit

July 5, 2012: An average, normal White-Cheeked Gibbon exhibit
I feel as though this enclosure would be much better suited for a small or medium-sized monkey like a group of Golden Lion Tamarins or a couple Wolf's Guenons.

Why not, Australasia sure doesn't mean much these days.

I'm not sure the relationships with Gibbons, but since the female passed, I wonder what they will do?

hahaha! they have tortoises all over the place. super sloppy. bring back clouded leopard! with more height, of course.

Yeah and I saw all of them apart from the one I really wanted to: Manouria emys!

I hear that! boot the cranes from Marco Polo Trail, put mesh over that area, plant a tree and add some climbing structures and plants, and bring in a Clouded Leopard!

they're usually just as you enter the Australasia building, if weather permits.

And just view them from the boardwalk? Need a solid wall below as the service road runs right there. big enough area. I had always hoped they'd put the red pandas in the trees by asiatic black bear. they used to have GLT's run through there. Obviously, pandas would need mesh.

Yeah I know, and guess where they weren't where I visited:p The whole Australasia exhibit had a lot of closed enclosures the day I visited.

Yep, from the boardwalk. Juts like with the Styan's Red Pandas, the Clouded Leopards would be able to climb right up to your face if they wanted (though unlike the pandas there would have to be mesh there. If we had to put a solid wall under the boardwalk then we could make it work so that there was glass viewing on the enclosure! Maybe just a short bit for people could still lean in to see the ground area. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the area you're speaking of.

Drats, no bueno.

That'd work. Glass would be nice. Have an L-shaped viewing window off the walk, so, those brave enough, can look down to see the leopards. The trees as soon as you're beyond camel across from the bears.

Ah, yes! I know what you're talking about. Interesting.... I like it! Move the pandas there and put something else into their old enclosure. But what? Add some mess and climbing structures and a tree or two and you have yourself a much better gibbon enclosure!
