Australian Outback- Southern hairy-nosed wombat exhibit

May 24, 2013

Possible future Tasmanian devil exhibit
Possibly, they have two female common wombats and they are split between the two exhibits. I am wondering where the ring-tailed possums and echidnas are going. There has been no mention of them. I wonder why San Diego would go through a lot of effort acquiring them and not displaying them. Its possible to mix wombats and echidnas with the koalas and wallabies as long as they exhibits have bottoms to them. Kiwi building has been demolished too with no access down to cat canyon.

Wait, so how many wombat exhibits are there? I see this exhibit is labeled for Southern hairy-nosed Wombats, but you also mention Common Wombats in another of the new exhibits.

There are three, one before this one for common wombats. This one is for southern hairy-nosed wombat, which is on the right of the marsupial wall. The third is the old one that is unchanged next to the tree kangaroos, which has the other female common wombat.
