Australian Singing Crow

Bird Kingdom, Niagara Falls
Was it labelled as a singing crow. We just call them magpies.

Just a question. Do you have something else called a magpie in Canada. I know Europe has different magpies.

They're certainly not too uncommon in European zoos (where the English name is usually Australian Magpie!). Very nice birds.

Actually, in good Australian Field Guides and references, they're also referred to as the Australian Magpie (or Black-backed Magpie).

Fiedl guides are getting better at the global outlook thing - we're starting to see our Magpie referred to as 'Black-billed Magpie' more and more. Some of the European guides are ridiculous - Grus grus called simply 'Crane' in British bird guides is a pet hate of mine.
