This Greek zoo is famous for having an enormous bird collection (at least in the past) and rows upon rows of aviaries. Is that still the case these days? Do you know how many bird species are currently at the zoo?
Absolutely. In my opinion this zoo houses one of Europe's top bird collections. As well as rows of aviaries, there is also a house for tropical bird aviaries and three enormous walkthrough aviaries representing different continents. The collection itself is outstanding, with a large number of rare birds, and several which are difficult to find in European zoos.
I don't know how many bird species they currently hold and unfortunately zootierliste is not particularly up-to-date for this collection, but the zoo's website individually profiles over 150 different species (an impressive feat in itself!) and there are quite a few birds I can think of which aren't on there.
