aviaries

The Te Anau Wildlife Centre is a small free-entry DoC-run facility, mostly housing rehabilitated birds I gather, although there are also takahe there.

The view here is from the walking track at the back of the centre (the front entry is on the main road where there is a car-park). At corner bottom-left of the photo is the map signboard. The aviary to the righthand side is for red-crowned kakariki. The cluster in the middle is a block of four aviaries for NZ pigeon, South Island kaka, and Antipodes Island parakeet. The low aviary to the left of that was empty.
