The small pond that surrounds the island was once intended to house a breeding colony of axolotls and native fish species but visiting egrets soon changed everyones mind.
This nice alebrije was moved to the axolotl building in Zoológico Los Coyotes where it is rather neglected. The small island now holds a pair of hybrid macaws.
