@AZbat I am really enjoying your historic photos of Reid Park Zoo, but I do want to point out that the animal in this photo is not a Baird’s tapir (Tapirella bairdii) but a Brazilian tapir (Tapirus terrestris). You can tell this is Tapirus terrestris by the erect crest running from the crown down the back of the neck.
Which part of the zoo was this particular exhibit? If memory serves me right, it does not quite look like the current Baird’s tapir exhibit.
