Most of the Woodland Park Zoo's exhibits are naturalistic, with very little obvious barriers and many immersion habitats. Just in the Northern Trail area of the zoo grizzly bears can be seen while at the same time river otters are on the right in a separate enclosure...and rocky mountain goats are in the background scenery. Wolves can be seen in their lush exhibit while elk are in the background, and the bald eagles can fly right onto a human visitor if they so choose to as there are zero barriers. This zoo pioneered immersion exhibitry in the late 1970's, and is one of the main reasons why I am heavily critical of wire cages or ugly grottoes. There are certain major zoos that have had the same awful enclosures for literally 100 years.
